Sarah Moeremans (Ghent, 1979) is not only artistic director of Het Zuidelijk Toneel, but also a director, actor and designer. She studied acting at Studio Herman Teirlinck and directing at the Theater School in Amsterdam. From 2012 to 2017, she was a founding member of the plug&play collective Moeremans&Sons, with which she created, among other things, the Crashtest Ibsen series: radical adaptations of Ibsen's classics that were performed at festivals such as Oerol and in theaters.

Sarah was resident director at the Noord Nederlands Toneel from 2013 to 2016 and resident director and part of the artistic staff at Toneelgroep Oostpool from 2017 to 2021. From 2021, Sarah has devoted her creativity as director and co-artistic director to Het Zuidelijk Toneel. From 2023, Sarah will be at the helm as artistic director.

What is exciting about Sarah's work is that, together with writer and dramaturg Joachim Robbrecht, she lovingly smashes the classical repertoire against the present day and provides it with the necessary satire and socially critical notes. This makes her work seductive and accessible to a large audience.
