A delightful abundance of language, music, and autotune

Het Zuidelijk Toneel & Club Gewalt

Here it is again, our annual sung comedy! Dive into the false and unequal world of wealth and appearances. Even autotune struggles to make it sound right. Put on your crooked skates and brace yourself for a dose of trickery, deceit, and the ever-present craving for money, money, money.

Meet the wealthy real estate entrepreneur Scheiterman and Josephine, the rich professor's daughter, in their eternal search for new staff to satisfy their wandering hands and changing moods. Intrigues and lies fly thick and fast.

You see Josephine and Scheiterman eagerly searching for a new personal assistant. When former pole dancing talent Peppi and down-and-out building materials dealer Muffl both apply for the job, all kinds of terrible secrets from the past immediately come to light.

It turns out that Scheitermann used to be Muffl's personal assistant and is therefore not a wealthy real estate entrepreneur at all. Muffl confuses Peppi, whom he knows from nightlife, with Josephine, and this confusion causes even more confusion.

Fortunately, a series of revelations follows. Honesty wins! All's well that ends well.

Viel Spaß!

DIRECTOR

Sarah Moeremans has been the artistic director of Het Zuidelijk Toneel since December 2023, but her connection with the company dates back to 2021, when she joined as a permanent director and co-artistic director. Her work is philosophical with a touch of satire, using language as its main building block. Since 2013, she has worked regularly with writer Joachim Robbrecht. At Het Zuidelijk Toneel, she has created, among other things, the audience favorite Shut Up and Play With Me (nominated for the VSCD Mime/Performance Prize), the theater experience What Ever Happened to Mr. Pete? and the absolute Oerol hit Rijgen.

DIRECTOR

Koen van Seuren is artistic director, director, and writer at Antiklimax: a collaboration with performer David Westera. Together, they are affiliated with the Grand Theatre and Station Noord, where they will be supported as young creators starting in 2021. Paradox reigns in his work, ideas follow each other in rapid succession, and spittle regularly flies around your ears.
