Why those two!? Because maybe art can save the world after all... Joseph Beuys gained fame in the arts after World War II. He believed that every person was an artist and could change the world with art. Therefore, he wanted to include everyone in his classes at the art academy. Would Adolf Hitler, aspiring painter who was rejected twice from the art academy, have become a dictator?

As a Nazi leader, Hitler strongly promoted art as a propaganda tool and labeled all art that did not reflect the Nazi ideal as 'degenerate'. Beuys was not only an artist but also a political activist and co-founded the German Greens. In I Like Art and Art Likes Me, art is pulled from its safe reserve and used to wage an ideological war.

Silke van Kamp is a sucker for rewriting stories. Last year, she made waves with F*CK LOLITA, for which writer Annet Bremen collaborated with her to rewrite the story of Nabokov’s iconic novel heroine, Lolita. Now she is organizing a fictional meeting that could have changed the course of history if it had taken place!

Silke van Kamp is a theater and film director. She created the production F*CK LOLITA at Het Zuidelijk Toneel together with writer Annet Bremen. This not only blew the audience away but also impressed the press.

Silke conveys current themes and taboos directly to her audience. In her work, she explores how the individual relates to the mass. She scrutinizes social constructs and exposes societal dynamics. With her actors, she creates relatable characters of flesh and blood. Her performances and text directions are raw and intimate, yet layered and infused with humor. Musical, physical, abrasive, honest.
