Byzantium: a restaurant named after the largest and most prosperous city in the Ancient World. Once a popular destination, it has now passed its expiration date. Imagine old pans, dull knives, and a chef with hair loss stirring the soup. An owner who cooks her own liver and elderly waiters on oxygen tanks. A performance about misguided nostalgia, gastronomic phobias, but despite everything, also mouth-watering desires.
A grotesque, baroque satire by Abattoir Fermé, in co-production with Het Zuidelijk Toneel.
Dutch spoken. No English surtitles.
