Where trendy coffee shops appear, traditional pubs disappear. But for many, the pub is a second home: a place to hang out, share stories and not be alone. Director Jessie L'Herminez collected these stories for the Brabant theatre production Café Brabant, which brings together professional actors, amateur actors from Brabant and a live band. The production will premiere on Sunday 5 April at Schouwburg & Concertzaal Tilburg.

Café Brabant is the new production by Het Zuidelijk Toneel in collaboration with director Jessie L'Herminez. We experience the lives of the owner and regulars of a pub on the brink of bankruptcy. When a young entrepreneur walks in and wants to exploit the warm local atmosphere, the question arises: will this be a new beginning or the final farewell?

The production is about homesickness and the many feelings that the concept of “home” can evoke. To this end, the rising director is working with a diverse group of people; the cast includes both professional actors and amateur performers from Brabant, an Iranian expat and the live band JUUK from Breda.

Café Brabant will premiere on Sunday 5 April in the Studiozaal of Schouwburg en Concertzaal Tilburg. After this matinee performance, the show will go on an exclusive tour of Brabant, visiting Etten-Leur, Breda, Eindhoven and Den Bosch. We hope to see you at Café Brabant!
