On Friday, October 31, our new large stage production Not Quichot will premiere at Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg. In the performance, inspired by the classic Don Quichot, five characters come together in a parking lot to honor their good friend Q. What follows is a search for the truth that is as absurd as it is compelling.
Who was Q? A myth, a trucker, or a master at twisting the truth? Not Quichot is an ode to fiction and imagination, inspired by Cervantes' world-famous 17th-century novel Don Quixote.
Director Sarah Moeremans and writer Joachim Robbrecht slammed this classic into the guardrail at full speed and then picked out the strongest elements from the wreckage for their own interpretation. Relevant? Definitely. Absurd? Absolutely. Fun? Without a doubt.

Immediately after the performance, Het Zuidelijk Toneel will be awarded the Prijs van de Kritiek 2025 (Critic's Award). According to critics, the company has developed over the past year, with Sarah Moeremans as artistic director at the helm, into "one of the most exciting BIS institutions in the Netherlands".
Not Quichot is not only a theatrical trip but also a sustainable one. In collaboration with Pieter Smit Group, the set will travel fully electrically through the Netherlands and Belgium. A true first in the theater world, as the use of an electric truck leads to a significant CO₂ saving! Yeah!
All performances of the large stage productions of Sarah Moeremans will standardly feature English surtitles in this art plan. This makes our offerings accessible to audiences who do not master the Dutch language, so your expat friend, deaf neighbor, or hard-of-hearing colleague can join the fun at the theater!
