Hallucinatory storytelling trip Not Quichot visible on location during Theater Festival Boulevard

Not Quichot

On Friday, August 8, somewhere between concrete slabs and quirky bushes, Not Quichot premiered at Theater Festival Boulevard. Location: the parking lot of the Gruyterfabriek in Den Bosch. The setting? A tall fence, a gray Ford Transit (or was it white?!) and towering above it all, a factory building with the poetic message in illuminated letters: ‘ASFALTNU, for tomorrow’. And for those who looked closely, they could even see windmills turning in the distance, like a mirage. In short: the perfect place for our Sarah Moeremans to literally and mercilessly drive the classic Don Quichot against the wall!

What followed was a two-and-a-half-hour-long hallucinatory storytelling trip full of collisions between fact and fiction. A psychedelic road trip through the memories of five people who once knew a mysterious figure: Q.

Q was involved in selling Bulgarian sparkling wine in the French Carpathians, he became so infatuated with La Cicciolina that he went crazy, ate magic mushrooms on a ferry, moved students from Dordrecht to Tilburg North, accidentally (maybe?) set a bookstore on fire, and drove from Gothenburg to Dakar with Henk Wijngaard on repeat. Did that really happen? No idea. But it sounded fantastic!

Don’t buy a van, buy a ticket!

Not Quichot will be showing until August 17 at Theater Festival Boulevard. Starting October 31, we will be hitting the theater halls for the tour.
