A standing ovation during the Belgian premiere of Saved Game

April 10, 2026, Mechelen - Together we pressed play during the Belgian premiere of Saved Game in a sold-out Kunstencentrum nona. From the first scene, the audience was drawn into this single-player solo that feels anything but lonely. Afterwards, there was a noticeable, emotional silence in the theatre, followed by a well-deserved standing ovation for Julia Ghysels’ tour de force.

Directed by Peter Seynaeve, Julia Ghysels delivers a fantastic one-woman performance: the mother who cannot let go and builds a monument in her garden for her deceased son, the son himself, the angry neighbor who wants the monument removed, the grieving husband who calls a clairvoyant, and the pixelated bear that guides her through the game. It is a world where sadness, humor, and glitching logic continually intersect.

The premiere night felt like a collective start button: an audience that willingly let themselves be swept away by levels full of grief, longing, and unexpected twists. The reactions afterwards were warm, touched, and sometimes even relieved laughter.

The tour continues through Flanders and the Netherlands.
