Café Brabant brings a diverse cast together: professional actors, local community performers from Brabant, and the Breda-based band Juuk, all sharing the stage in one production. Emerging director and regional talent Jessie L’Herminez explores themes of longing and belonging, and the complex emotions connected to the idea of home.
The story centers on a bar on the brink of closure and the people who refuse to let it go. For its owner and regulars, this bar is more than a place to drink — it is home. An expat hopes to find connection and a sense of belonging here, while a teenager longs to escape and claim a place of their own. The band keeps playing until the doors ultimately close.
When a young entrepreneur enters and sees potential in turning the bar’s local character into a business model, one question remains: is this the start of something new, or the end of an era?
