Children always grow up, and adults are still children. Or is it the other way around? With KID., we present two special performances in one. As a child and as an adult, you see the performance from the other side. The adults sit there and the children here, and vice versa. You hear what is happening on the other side, but that is not always what you think. And what you see is not always what you hear.
The performance KID. (8+) has won the Zilveren Krekel Award for the most impressive youth production! The youth theater jury writes:
“KID. is a phenomenal performance in which the generation gap between adults and children has taken the form of a wall. The parents look at the bare back and become extras, while on the children's side, nothing about their parents and adulthood remains unsaid. The text is intelligent, which makes KID. original, confrontational, and brutally honest.”
Jetse Batelaan (Leiden, 1978) is a director and, since 2013, artistic director of Theater Artemis. He has an eye for people who struggle, and with that perspective he creates visual, imaginative, and clear theater that surprises and moves audiences. His approach is radical. In recent years, he has won several nominations and awards, including for the co-productions Het verhaal van het verhaal (The Story of the Story) and Een leuk avondje uit (A Fun Night Out).
